#carvedecember challenge
Hello everyone!
So happy to be here again, to share with you my experience participating in my first #carvedecember challenge! If you are not familiar with it, this is a whole month of carving prompts hosted by the talented artist, vlogger and instagrammer Julie Fei-Fan Balzer (@balzerdesigns).
The idea, or my interpretation of the challenge, was to get out there and show yourself what you’re capable of. To find inspiration from the prompts and other artists and makers, to find the perfect excuse to make a new stamp every day! And yes, all that during the most busy month of the year!
So, the story goes that I really rad a lot fun and come up with fun stamps, went out of my comfort zone and made a few discoveries about my creative process. First of all, I realized that, by the time I sit and carve a stamp, usually the design or idea (my “mental doodle”) has been there for a while. It was quite a challenge to come up with a design on the spot, or almost on the spot, if I sneaked at the prompt list a couple o days before… but you get the idea. I tried to think of stamp designs that would suite my interests in the future, so that it wouldn’t be a “disposable stamp” or a one time only… sometimes I succeeded and some others I didn’t, but who knows, maybe I’ll use those left apart stamps some other day…
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, I grew my following list because I virtually met many fellow makers. I also grew my followers list, and learnt along the way.
I keep learning and hope you’d like to share with me your comments or questions. Have you joined a challenge on Instagram lately?
Let me know! Have fun and see you soon,
Love,
Mery
