12 months of inspiration: find your stamped calendar
Hello there!
Ready to start off a brand new year? Of course we are! Sometimes good ideas come from the ones around you. The ones who see you grow and enjoy what you’re doing. My friend Fernanda is a busy home-based program coordinator and mom. She needed a handy way to figure out monthly family activities, while having lots of space for notes and messages in every week as well.
A custom made calendar was a perfect fit for her and her family. Of course, the size of it mattered and, most importantly, the look of it. She has a flair for home decor, and really likes Nordic minimalism, neutral colors and peaceful lines. Her home has a modern style and the calendar was meant to have a spot in the kitchen.
I took the challenge of designing a calendar for her, I was so happy and had so much work to do! This task was way out of my box, but still felt very appropriate for me and the moment in my creative journey. There is one good thing about this kind of journeys, and that is the fact that almost everything is a source of inspiration. I just needed to find the perfect balance between art and practicality.
First step was to decide the platform on which the calendar was going to be built or held. I thought that a magnetic board was perfect due to its versatility: you can hang almost anything there! I took it from there, and found from magnetic pins in different colors, to magnetic sheets where you can paint or stamp and cut out the shapes you want!
I took inspiration from the different seasons to think about the print designs for each month, trying for them to be not too intricate nor too simple or boring. As always, trying to find balance. As I told you, the home decor has neat neutral colors, so I felt I could play around a little with colors and shapes without problem.
As you will notice, the calendar is made in Spanish, but that is not the only custom detail. It has also holidays from several countries such as USA, Canada, Argentina, Denmark, Germany and Japan! For working reasons, these were the family requests.
I’m really pleased with the results and look forward to making an English version now! I’ll let you know when that will be ready. In the meantime, let me know what do you think about these prints and how they would fit or not in your place.
I can’t wait to hear from you!
I’d like to thank my friend Fernanda for trusting me this fun project! Looking forward to so many more!
Enjoy and get crafty! Love,
Mery
